Iron Cove Classic 2, 2024

Published Sat 19 Oct 2024

After an early start at the shed, our eight (Sydney Womens’) was towed to Rodd Point by Mike with Sue and Yvonne balancing the boat and Catherine in the tinnie acting as the "lookout". The men had the luxury of boating from Leichhardt as they were rowing a compositie MM8+ with LRC.

The women rowed as a Grade crew because we had two youngsters on board (Nina and Ami). Judith replaced Ami as our cox and did well fending off some other crews on our way around the island. The crew put in a very good performance given that we did not have the opportunity to train in that configuration. The men also enjoyed their row and were pleased with their performance. The times for the two crews were very similar.

We are all pleased that Nina had the opportunity to compete in an 8+ (her first ever sweep oar race) before she heads off to the USA. We all wish her well for the future.

Several pictures of the W8+ were supplied by a spectator. These can be found in the gallery.
