Members of the ARC Committee of Management were pleased to welcome our local member, Stephanie Di Pasqua, who visited the shed last week. We are very grateful for Stephanie's support in our receiving a grant of $20,000 towards purchase of a ute, under the Community Building Partnerships scheme.

The annual Long White Lunch was held at the shed on Sunday 17th August. We had a great turnout ranging from members who have joined ARC in recent times to rowers who have been at the club for “eons”. The sun was shining (for a change) and everyone enjoyed the fabulous food that was brought along. Awards were presented for: most improved novice rowers, most improved rowers, best cox, most successful competitor and the coaches’ award. See the Gallery for photos and more information.

The Drummoyne JB Sharp regatta for 2025 was held on 20th July. ARC crews competed in the WI4x(2nd), WN4x(4th), WO8+(1st) and WO2x(3rd). All crews performed well. Photos and a longer report can be found in the gallery.

ARC was well represented for the first JB Sharp regatta of the season at Balmain, with many of our rowers getting their first experience of racing against other clubs. There were two novice quads and a novice single (Sharon Lawrie who won her division - very impressive for a first race). ARC also competed in the WO8+, WI4x and WI2x. Everyone performed well and also gained useful race experience.

ARC Club Racing Day was a great opportunity for our most recent rowers to experience competition in quads and doubles, accompanied by some members of our competition squad. Racing took place off the beach at Quarantine Park to allow quick turn around of crews and boats. There were some very competitive "take no prisoners" races, followed by a morning tea with fabulous food supplied by our members. A great day was had by all despite the very cold conditions.

Congratulations to the novice quad (Bronwyn, Anne, Victoria, Melissa) who won the women's novice quad race at the Balmain Rowing Club Regatta on Sunday 2nd February. This means that they have "graduated" and can no longer row in novice events.

The annual trip to Taree for two and a half days of racing on the Manning River was great fun as usual. The photos (compliments of Lillian) show some of the events contested by ARC rowers and the somewhat challenging conditions on some days. The storm that hit just before the start of the mixed eights race made things particularly exciting. ARC powered through the tempest which was better than some of the other 14 eights in that race. One boat sank!

The 2024 Head of the Yarra was very challenging given the extreme heat on the practice day (Friday) and during the actual race on the following day. Both the men's and women's crew performed well and the coxswains did an excellent job of negotiating the difficult course. Everyone was exhausted at the end of the race but also happy with their acheivements. (Photos taken by Lillian have been uploaded to the Gallery.)

The Women’s HOTY crew got its last outing in a time trial before the big day coming up in late November.

After an early start at the shed, our eight (Sydney Womens’) was towed to Rodd Point by Mike with Sue and Yvonne balancing the boat and Catherine in the tinnie acting as the "lookout". The men had the luxury of boating from Leichhardt as they were rowing a compositie MM8+ with LRC.

25th November saw a return of the eights to the Yarra after 4 successive years of interruption by Covid and weather events. Some 240 eights converged on the banks of the Yarra with many taking the opportunity of a practice row on day before the race.
